Mr. Martin Vandendyck

A public mental health practitioner, Mr Martin Vandendyck is currently the Technical Lead for the Mental Health and Substance use program of the World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific.

Mr Vandendyck holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Liege in Belgium with a specialization in development and disability. He started his career in a community service promoting inclusion of children with disabilities in primary schools. He also completed a Mater’s degree in public health from the University of Liege in Belgium, as well as the International Master in Mental Health Policy and Service at the NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal.

Prior to this assignment at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, he worked in several WHO Country Offices developing strategies for integrating mental health services into health systems, and strengthening capacity of health workers on clinical management of mental, neurological and substance abuse conditions.

Mr Vandendyck also served as a clinical psychologist for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Belgium, working on the development and coordination of mental health programs and other related projects in several low- and middle-income countries.
